Word of the WEEK

I teach one different vocabulary word per week to each different grade level. I know it's weird to have a favorite vocabulary word, but 2nd grade has my favorite work this week.... "putrid" It's so funny when they can use it in their writing. It makes them so proud. I took some pictures of 1st grade student work this week. I had them illustrate their vocabulary word on individual white boards. Then we made a class train and students followed me around the room while we looked at all the cute illustrations.     I also teach K-4, but I have grade 5 also. We do word of the week and I would love to see your lists. I am the reading specialist, and get to teach writing to all kinds of kiddos! LOVE the illustrations!

      -This is the vocabulary for ALL the grade levels. We call them Wilma Words because my trait puppet, Wilma Word the alligator, teaches them :) We actually do character trait words every other week because this helps out with reading too. I worked with the reading coach to develop the final list.

    Your blog is so stinkin' cute! I adore it! =)

    I am happy to be your newest follower. Have you ever done a 3 way vocabulary? You take a piece of paper and divide it in thirds. In the first box you write the word and definition. In the second box you write the word in a sentence. The last box is for illustrating the word. My kiddos love doing that. =)

    I would love for you to come visit me when you get the chance.
